Mr. GreenJeans I just picked up this ep…Mark! I love it! Replacements all the way, the lyrics are fantastic (old angry lyrics were of the time, man!)

Here I am once again stuck on the losing end of a conversation that was purely one sided You never come up for air You keep on talking and nobody cares We're all trying to pretend that you are not there I swear your lips must move 100 miles an hour You Never Shut Up You Never Shut Up I'd like to gag U 'cause you know you never shut up And I sit on the phone Wishing that you'd leave me alone If I knew it was you I would have said that no one was home 24 hours a day You've always got something to say about shit that doesn't matter anyway I swear your lips must move 100 miles an hour You Never Shut Up You Never Shut Up I'd like to gag U 'cause you know you never shut up

It's been some time I gotta let my feelings show after all we've been through I've gotta let you know I'm not gonna walk away from you I'm gonna run as fast as I can Used to think that you were the answer now I see you're out of the question If I tried to figure you out Yeah you know I'd still be guessing I'm not gonna walk away from you I'm gonna run as fast as I can I can't remember it all what you did just left me hazy but I'll give you one thing I do believe you're fucking crazy I'm not gonna walk away from you I'm gonna run as fast as I can

No, I don't know where you're going and I don't really care but you've got some strange notion like I should give a damn I'm tired of your ups and downs I'm not sticking around I just want to find the farthest place away and when I find it you know that is where I'll stay From you, I need a break I just want to find the farthest place away You think you got me from the inside but you're in for a surprise I've got one foot out the door and I'll be gone forevermore I'm tired of your silly games You ask me it's all much too lame I just want to find the farthest place away and when I find it you know that is where I'll stay From you, I need a break I just want to find the farthest place away Your mood can change at any time one moment your fine and the next you're losing your mind for little things you attack Girl, you get the bozack!

What do yo think? Do you think I'm crazy yeah What do you think? Do you think I'm lazy yeah You try to do what's right but you only blur my sight Now I'm losing touch on reality You got me living in a state of confusion but I carry on, to the words of my favorite song I can't see through this illusion How did you ever fall if you've seen it all? You don't understand the way I live and I'll never get the respect I give Maybe you come down off of your high, high place then you'll realize, why I race You got me living in a state of confusion but I carry on, to the words of my favorite song I can't see through this illusion How did you ever fall if you've seen it all?

about

What is State of Confusion?
In this case it's a band I was in many, many moons ago. We covered the Ramones and Johnny Thunders and wrote songs about girls. If I'm a discount Paul Westerberg, then SOC was my Replacements. This EP is 4 new recordings of songs I wrote when I was in the band.

Why?
Good question. I recently upgraded my recording equipment. Still not professional, but a definite upgrade. Like any red blooded American male, I wanted to get right to recording. Damn the instruction manual! The problem was I didn't have any songs ready to go, so I reached into the well, deep into the well, and pulled out these tunes.

Why so mean?
Another good question! See, I grew up in the era of Hair Metal. It was a great time for rock music, but it was also the prime era of the power ballad. I hated those ballads. I understood why they existed. They were the reason the bands got paid and laid, but to teenage Mark Parker they were just in the way of the rock! So when I finally got a guitar, learned a few chords and started writing songs, they were as far away from ballads as I could get. That's where songs like "You never shut up", "Fast as I can" and "Farthest Place Away" came from. I still find myself writing anti-love songs to this day, but I've also added other subjects to my arsenal as well ...like robbing banks and the end of the world. I promise I'm not as negative of a person as my lyrics might suggest. LOL

I'm normally not a nostalgia guy, but I've gotta admit it was really fun revisiting these tunes. I hope you like them as much as I liked recording them!
